Rover/Ranger is the higher wing of Bharat Scout and guide. This is a youth movement. Rovers/Rangers will get varied opportunities to develop individually and also develop in group. Here you will also get encouragement and will know “Yourself”. You will discover really who you are as a person. This will help you to lead a happy life. Its programmes are very helpful in disaster management. The movement has power to change the attitude of our youth and ability to make them able to handle every kind of situations.
The Bharat Scouts & Guides is a voluntary, non-political, educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and methods conceived by the Founder Lord Baden Powell in 1907.
Purpose: The purpose of the Movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of local, national and international communities.
Rovers and Rangers are the senior branch of Scouts and Guides. Both are a commitment to seek the spiritual value of life beyond the material world. Rovers and rangers is one of the best ways to train young person’s to develop their all round development and it helps them inculcate attitude effectively to face the challenges with confidence in life. It meets the needs of youth to adjust in the Present Society and Undertake risks to help the distressed. It has a social dimension through Participation in the development of society. It helps to develop a Boy and a Girl strong in character, a sound body and mind with an attitude of help to others.
A Rover and Ranger Unit has been set up by The Government College Bomdila in 1992-93 sessions with its regional headquarter at Naharlagun. Regular programmes of hiking, trekking, camping etc. are organized by the Unit. The Unit also organized activities like adventure programmes, rescue operations, emergency management, literacy, drives, a forestation, etc. In addition to its normal works, volunteers enrolled can hope for attending camps at State as well as National Levels. Award for work are always ahead. Interested students may clearly specify their choice.
